With wood becoming increasingly expensive and people waking up to the urgent need to save trees, alternative materials for designing furniture are becoming popular. One of such materials is bamboo. Bamboo furniture are considered to be trendy and convenient. The Bamboo Wave Shelf by Mark Whiting is a designer shelf done entirely in bamboo. The small shelf is a checkerbox design, with 9 equal-sized squares. Four of these squares are covered and have internal lighting behind the covering, making the shelf glow in the dark. And when it glows, it shows off the bamboo composite. I think the effect is quite stunning. The other five square holes can be used to keep your things.

Where does the ‘Wave’ in the name come from? The lines of the shelf aren’t the regular straight lines, but are curved like waves. Quite a unique design, I must say.
