
Although I don’t really know any tech-savvy kitties personally, I’m told they really love to quench their thirst with running water. And that’s why MAKE contributor Tsruzik has come up with this rather ingenious automatic cat faucet that uses an IR sensor and some tubing to create a kitty water fountain. The DIY project basically requires you to buy one of MAKE’s special kits that cost you anywhere between $10 to $125 and get working with your fav handy tools. When finished, the faucet works just like one of those hand detecting automatic faucets, but only for cats.
The best part is that the thing also features an optional “people detector” so that the faucet won’t run every time a person walks by. Check out a vid of a kitty using her cool new water fountain below.
