I happen to have a very religious neighbor who goes to confessions on every opportunity he gets. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that it has ever stopped him from indulging in sin. Actually, I have come to believe that he only resorts to confessions so that he can build up enough brownie points with the Lord to be able to sin over and over again and not be condemned to hell at the end! The reason why I told you this long story is that this is exactly what most companies trying to mint some shameless money are out to do. Just like this supposedly revolutionary Lotus Sanitizing System Ozonator from Tersano, which makes ozone instantly by passing an electric current through oxygen and dissolving the ozone into “clean” water so that you can wash your fruits, veggies, meats and other food stuffs in it to kill off all the pesticides and harmful contaminations present on the surface of what you intend to eat later. Sounds all too good, doesn’t it? But it’s just the sin-confession part.
The company hails ozone as the chlorine-free alternative to chemical disinfectants but what it doesn’t tell you is that a certain form of ozone is actually a pollutant and a greenhouse gas at the lower levels of the atmosphere, which effectively means that while you’re washing your apples with ozone thinking its better than chlorine, you’re actually washing your fruit in something not very dissimilar to car fumes! Studies actually show that ozone at ground level can harm lung function and even cause respiratory problems if you’re exposed to high levels of ozone, and since the company themselves advice users to not have their heads directly hung over the device when its functioning, we don’t need a translator to tell us that the thing ain’t that good for you.
Next up is the fact that the food container in this unit is made from a #7 plastic which is definitely not recyclable, which coupled with the fact that the product practically prompts you to go and buy non-organic foods apart from contaminating the environment, brings the eco-friendly credentials of this thing just a notch below the next gas-guzzling SUV on the freeway. And then you also have the fact that the unit demands to be fed with 2 Whrs of electricity (30 watts x 250 seconds) for every 250 second cycle of ozone manufacturing, which seems just darn insane when you consider that you can just switch to organically-produced foods that does not require any sanitizing at all. But, I guess this might be a good slow poison if you want to kill off your partner for a hefty pay-off. The company estimates the price of this near-fatal novelty at $169 only.
P.S. How ironic is it that when I tried typing Tersano in MS Word it ran up an error and the dictionary offered “treason” as a suggested spelling!

First and foremost, cars do not produce ozone, Mother Nature does to try to combat all of the pollutants that we humans are putting in the atmosphere. Secondly, ozone in air is a lung irritant, but in water, it is perfectly safe and TOTALLY effective. There are countless examples in industry where this technology is already used and we just miniaturized this technology to make it available to consumers like you so that you don’t have to use other harmful products in your everyday life. No treason here, we have nothing to be shameful of, as we offer the ONLY green sanitizer on the market, EPA registered and using an FDA and USDA approved process.
The best example I can mention is Olympic swimming pool venues, they have to use ozonated water, instead of chlorine. Actually, Disney, Sea World and countless other water parks use this same technology. As for harmful to asthma sufferers, we have countless testimonials that say the contrary. Let’s face it, we need to get rid of ALL those cleaners, regular or green, they are not safe and that is what is causing respiratory problems.As for the #7 plastic, not sure where you learned that means it is not recyclable? #7 is actually a category for ’other’ plastics which is where our BASF SAN material falls. There are many examples of #7 plastics out there with the arrows around it which means they are recyclable. As for energy consumption, do the math and it really only adds up to .05 cents/use....much more environmentally friendly than the trucks that are delivering your bottle of cleaner to your local grocery store. I feel we are the only green solution on the market, in fact, we are so green that I feel the choice is clear (as water) as to the best way for everybody to clean their homes and sanitize their produce.
