If you have ever broken a leg or an arm, you can really understand the neglect a disabled person might feel navigating around or using a standard designer kitchen. To bridge the gap between aesthetics and accessibility, design firm Valcucine collaborated with architect Marco Miscoscia to create Hability - a wheelchair-friendly kitchen that looked as good as any other designer space while allowing the disabled population the freedom they require to move and work independently in their kitchen. The ergonomically-innovative kitchen utilized Easy Food stainless steel top made from a single mould, that reduces work during food preparation as food is hopped, cooked and drained from the same workstation without having to hassle with pots and pans. A self-cleaning system makes the water flow away from the user and directly into the service tank getting rid of ugly messes with the option of having the top fitted with dish draining racks and even transportable sinks. With additional wall-hang units and corner units housing all the accessories required during food preparation, workload is reduced drastically making it possible for a person in a wheelchair to prepare whole meals together without depending on someone else to constantly help them out.
