Design by Ron Arad for Kartell, Los Angeles-based shopping and retail store, the “Lovely Rita” is a creative shelf that combines Italian design with innovation to correspond its values in physical form. Looking more like a knotted ribbon, the sculptural shelf seems to explore the possibilities of shapes and function. Featuring a flexible design, the customizable shelf can either be used as a single shelf or can be installed by combining a series of modules to form an extensive bookcase according to the needs of the user.
Measuring 1000 x 200 x 200 mm (WDH) in dimensions, the Lovely Rita lets the users personalize their bookshelf according to their storage requirement or interior design of their room. Weighing about 2.7 kg (single module), the modular shelf is available in three color options, including black, cobalt, wine red. Priced at £154 (about $232), the Lovely Rita shelf presents a unique blend of form and function.
